For the love of blogs - episode 5
Hi folks, guess who’s back, back again – I feel a song coming on courtesy of Eninem (Without Me) – I know I am so down with the kids……NOT!!! Well, those last three weeks have passed by in a heartbeat (I know my humour is still wasted on this blog but sadly there is no other alternative, as no one else will write it so you are still stuck with me).
We have had a busy few weeks delivering Emergency First Aid at Work and Basic Life Support/Medical Emergencies to both new and long-standing customers, everything from modern private dentists to council staff. Our head trainer, Shaun, loves nothing more than to be driving around the country with “Fernando” his trusty steed, well a Ford Focus to be precise that was affectionately named by our girls!!! I sometimes think he loves that car more than me…. anyway moving on. He also delivered a Level 3 Mental Health First Aid via Zoom which teaches all the different mental health conditions and how to help and support someone experiencing difficulties with their mental health. It is quite an intensive course, thought provoking and at times an emotional subject but if it helps a person to be able to listen and support even just one individual, it is certainly worth it. As part of looking after a person’s mental health I allowed Shaun the day off on Father’s Day – aren’t I kind and thoughtful???
The following week was a trip across the Pennines to Lancashire, they do talk strange over there – sorry, to deliver a 5-day First Response in Emergency Care level 3 course to a very good customer or ours. Lots of new skills taught even to an experienced Combat Medic still serving in the amazing armed forces. Also we at CTS wanted to say thank you to all military personnel for the amazing work carried out everyday and for keeping us safe in these difficult times.
Medical event cover also featured heavily over the last few weeks where Shaun had the audacity to tell Rhod Gilbert to ‘carry on’ when a patient suddenly became ill mid show and he became concerned and ordered the show be stopped. Rhod is an amazing and very brave man who has beaten the big ‘C’ and was very humble about how lucky he was in his usual humorous way. We had a great chat with the Welsh man after the show and the audience member made a full recovery, good job all round.
Earlier this week Shaun spent most of the week sat in a medical tent in outer Llangollen ‘working ridiculously hard’ on trying to stay awake as he was mowed out with patients – I think this was a lie!!! He is now fluent in Welsh, well that is what it sounds like when he starts dribbling on or maybe I just don’t take any notice of him – ooops did I write that out loud!!!
Right onto this weeks chosen course and it is Understanding Breathing, a brand-new CTS course we have available on Saturday 14th September and is being delivered by Harry our lecturing Paramedic. Harry has been working hard on putting the final changes to this course which will talk about the different parts of the respiratory system and how they all work together. Harry will be performing a dissection on a lamb’s pluck to help enhance an individual’s learning experience and discuss associated breathing difficulty issues. As it is one our Paramedic led courses, the price is £125 and due to its uniqueness, places will sell fast so do not miss out and book now. This course will count towards CPD hours and includes our vast array of snacks/nibbles – anyone who has attended one of our previous courses know how good these are and not forgetting the all-important certificate of attendance.
Right, I am now off to practise my breathing techniques relaxing in the garden, maybe a spot of sunbathing whilst partaking in a large cool alcoholic drink as I deserve it after writing this masterpiece – Toodle-pip amigos.
