For the love of blogs - episode 13
Here we are again, and who can believe we have made it to thirteen, yes thirteen episodes of what can only be described as literary masterpieces. I mean, how lucky or unlucky can one be deciding whether to read this when you could be doing something far more enjoyable with your life, like enjoying the sunshine whilst being “darn pub?”
It has been an unusual time in the world of CTS. Unfortunately, Shaun spent a few nights in the hospital recently after suffering a heart attack. Luckily, all the training he has given me over the last couple of years make me aware that something wasn’t right, so after administering aspirin and making a swift 999 call for an ambulance, he was taken to hospital where it was confirmed he’d had an Nstemi (a type of heart attack where the heart’s need for oxygen cannot be met and it doesn’t have an easily identifiable electrical pattern). He was operated on the next day, and during the angiogram, he decided he wanted to scare the hospital staff and proceeded to have a cardiac arrest, resulting in CPR and a zap of electricity. All joking aside, he has been incredibly lucky and is getting back to his normal annoying self and is proud of the rhythm strip he got showing him going into VF (Ventricular Fibrillation). Now, if you want to know more about VF, then book yourself onto our next Understanding ECGs Part 1 course later this month – there is always an opportunity to shamelessly promote one's business!!!
Being self-employed is not the easiest way to make a living, and after being advised to have time off work, it is not always possible when there are still bills to pay. So, this resulted in me not only being his majesty’s chauffeur, but I also attended and helped with some of the First Aid at Work courses which still needed to be delivered. We also still had people booked on First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) and Requalification courses, and did not want to let anyone down, especially when their qualifications were due to expire shortly. Luckily, Shaun is great at “talking” and whilst he did his bit, I helped with the practicals. So, thank you to everyone who understood the situation we were in; it was very much appreciated.
During his time of recuperation, which lasted all of two days, he decided to produce another new course to go with our “Understanding” range with the help of Harry, our wonderful Paramedic. The new course is entitled Understanding Adult and Paediatric Resus and comes with an optional second day of practical and theory assessments. This would generate a full adult and a full paediatric ILS certificate. This course is scheduled for November later this year and promises to be highly informative. We believe it will be an excellent addition to our ever-expanding range of CPD courses. For further information, please contact us or look at our website, and if interested, we advise you to book early as there are only a limited number of spaces currently available.
The Darkness
Over the last month, we have been busy providing medical cover at various shows, and these have included a car rally, comedians, professional dancers, numerous bands, and my favourite chef!!! Some shows have been busier than others, and that is when working together as part of a team is so important.
Now Shaun has many ideas floating around in his head at any given time, but he decided recently to purchase an engraving machine. Yes, just what every good business/household should have is one of these bad boys. Now, after much muttering, swearing, and general moodiness, he finally produced his now infamous masterpieces of engraved cardholders and, more importantly, trolley tokens with the CTS emblem. These works of art are not available on Temu or other equally reputable establishments, but the cardholders are available to purchase to order if required, and the trolley tokens, well, you can only get one of these if you attend one of our many and varied courses we have to offer. Now, if that does not tempt you to book a place well, frankly, I do not know what will.
Well, that is about all I have time for today, and to be honest, I have run out of things to say – yes, I know that is a first!!! Hopefully, the next episode will be informing you that I have won the lottery, am now residing in Monaco, or some other expensive country living the high life and there will be no need to write one of these damn things ever again but we all know the answer to that!!!!
Until next time
Si’thi later
