For the love of blogs - episode 7

Guter Tag my friends and greetings from Germany. We are currently on a little holiday staying right by the side of the Rhein and the weather is glorious. We arrived last Sunday and are here for the next week. Today we decided was going to be a leisurely day so I have been sitting on our balcony and busy completing some of my FREC 4 homework – I know there is no rest for the wicked and boy I must have been wicked in a previous life. Anyway, moving on, let me keep you up to date on what we have been doing in CTS land.

Hard at work as usual!!!

The last blog I mentioned about the FREC 3 book Shaun has been busy beavering away at and I can thankfully say it is 100% complete. That book has caused many sleepless nights, a whole tree, and nearly a divorce, well the list is endless, but we got there in the end. I have to say it is a fantastic learning aid and is packed with all the information to support a learner on the course. I cannot give him too much credit or it will go to his head, but he has done a mighty fine job. That is his full quota of compliments for the rest of the year!!! If you want to see “the next booker prize” entry, then book onto a FREC 3 course being held in Leeds or Wigan and you will be able to borrow this masterpiece. Check the website for future course dates or contact us for further details.

A couple of weeks ago Shaun delivered (with the help of Lewis) a first aid at work requalification and a 3-day first aid at work course to the staff at York Barbican. We bribed Lewis and another friend of ours Kelsey (to be honest neither took too much bribing) to take part in our catastrophic bleed scenario and it was our best by far. There was a suspected terrorist who had entered the building and caused an explosion. Numerous casualties required treatment including an amputated hand and leg as well as a nasty head injury. The terrorist was eventually caught after receiving a knife to his leg. Lots of fun was had by all and lots of blood was used including a new type which yes you can guess made me look like an umpa lumpa again!!!

Last week Shaun delivered another successful FREC 3 course in Wigan to one of our returning customers. He seems to be spending more time there than he is at home – I guess there are always upsides to this business!!! Due to school holidays I had to take the girls with me and one even got involved by being a casualty and needing to be log rolled onto a scoop – that cost me as she claimed she had worked hard carrying out that role, I mean what’s hard about lying on the floor pretending to be unconscious – kids today!!!

I am not going to do a highlighted course for this week’s blog as I am officially on holiday – did I mention that previously lol but just to tantalise your taste buds the next highlighted course will be one that Shaun and myself are still working on – Understanding Medication Administration, this is proving to be a little more difficult than we thought but hopefully we will have more news soon.

Right, I am now off to sample more of the local German beer which could have helped me write this stunning blog but sadly I am stone cold sober, but not for long.

Auf Wiedersehen

Jen
