Oh for the love of blogs!

Well, it is time to get into the 21st century and start with my first blog. I just wanted to give you an insight into what Castleford Training Solutions (CTS) does best which is to train people in how to save a life. Learning CPR is the most valuable skill and anyone can learn no matter what age whether they be young or old.

Last week we delivered an Immediate Life Support + Medical Emergencies course to a dental practice in Garforth near Leeds. They wanted all their staff to learn the skills needed to maintain an airway and administer medical gases. For some staff, such as dentists, this is mandatory training, but they wanted all their staff to have these invaluable skills including receptionists and trainee dental nurses. It was a fun packed day and involved Shaun, James (fireman Sam) and myself as we created a number of different practical scenerios including how to deal with a cardiac arrest, someone suffering anaphylaxis and how to deal with a drunk person bursting into your dental surgery! The acting skills from Shaun and Mark (one of the partners from the dental practice) was worthy of a BAFTA award - in fact Mark was a little too convincing!

The whole team, 17 people in total, all contributed and engaged really well , especially when working as a team, and we had a fantastic day. The feedback we received was amazing and we look forward to working with them again in the near future. We just need to keep an eye out for Mark as the next James Bond.

This week consisted of a little road trip up north to Geordie-land AKA Newcastle for Shaun to deliver a 3-day First Aid At Work course to the staff at Utilita Arena. I booked him in the most exclusive accommodation in Washington (not D.C) I could find which he later found out to be the Campanile - I know I really do spoil him as I paid for breakfast for all 3 days. He still came home with a smile on his face so it can’t have been that bad.

Thursday was yet more training, this time it was a last minute Emergency First Aid At Work course delivered at our training room in Leeds. We deliver this type of course along with many other courses, including Level 2 Mental Health First Aid, Understanding Cat Bleed and First Response in Emergency Care Level 3 (FREC 3).

We have also provided medical cover for numerous events from singers to comedians to boxing.

The last couple of days we have been working on our new home office and finally getting round to putting the finishing touches to it. It has been a long process but it is definitely worth it now we are almost there, as Shaun’s previous desk resembled something like Harry Potter living under the stairs. I on the other hand have no excuse not to do the accounts/paperwork - I mean everyone loves doing paperwork, said no one ever!

Next weekend we deliver our first Understanding Cat Bleed course, which will entail me ending up looking like an Oompa-Loompa and contains the following products - a golf ball and a tampon! If you want to know what these are for then book a place on this course.

Ta ta for now.
